🔒 Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026 · Effective immediately

🛡️ We take children's privacy extremely seriously. BrightKidsGames.co.uk does NOT ask for or collect personal information from children — no accounts, no sign-ups, no forms. All games run entirely in your browser. The only data processed on this site comes from the cookie-based services described below (Google AdSense advertising and, only with your consent, analytics), and ads here are always non-personalised and family-safe.

1. WHO WE ARE

BrightKidsGames.co.uk is a free educational games website for children based in the United Kingdom. We provide fun, curriculum-aligned games for children aged 4–12 at no cost. BrightKidsGames.co.uk is the data controller for this website for the purposes of UK GDPR.

For privacy enquiries: privacy@brightkidsgames.co.uk

2. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY — OUR COMMITMENT

We comply with the UK Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code) and UK GDPR. Our commitments to you and your family:

  • We do NOT ask for or knowingly collect personal data from children
  • We do NOT require registration or sign-up to play
  • All games run entirely within your browser — game answers, scores and progress are never sent to our servers
  • We show only non-personalised, family-safe advertising — never targeted or interest-based advertising aimed at children (see section 4)
  • We never sell personal data, and we do not share data with third parties for their own marketing
  • We apply the highest privacy settings available by default for young users

In the UK, children under 13 cannot lawfully give their own consent to online data processing (Data Protection Act 2018). Because this site is made for children, we treat every visitor as if they were a child: we designed the site so that no consent from a child is ever needed, and our advertising is configured as child-directed.

3. INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY

We do not run analytics by default. Basic usage statistics (Google Analytics 4) are collected only if you choose "Accept All" on our cookie banner. If you choose "Reject Non-Essential", no analytics run at all and our games work exactly the same. If analytics are accepted, the following may be collected with IP anonymisation switched on:

  • Your approximate location (country or region level — IP addresses are anonymised)
  • Browser type and device type (phone, tablet, desktop)
  • Pages visited and time spent on site
  • Referring website or search engine

We use this information solely to understand how the site is used and to improve our games. The data is aggregated and we never attempt to identify any individual — but because online identifiers can count as personal data under UK GDPR, we only run analytics with consent, and Google deletes the data automatically after a limited retention period.

4. GOOGLE ADSENSE & ADVERTISING

We display advertisements via Google AdSense to keep the site free for all families. Our AdSense Publisher ID is ca-pub-2383828475260164.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's advertising cookies would normally enable ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. However, because this website is made for children, we have configured it to receive child-directed treatment from Google: only non-personalised, family-safe ads are served here, and personalised advertising, remarketing and interest-based targeting are disabled for this site.

Non-personalised ads still use cookies and similar technologies, but only for essential advertising purposes such as frequency capping (not showing you the same ad too often), aggregate ad reporting, and preventing fraud and abuse. Google acts as an independent data controller for this processing.

You can read how Google handles this data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. Adults can manage ad preferences at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of personalised advertising across the web via Your Online Choices (UK/EU) or aboutads.info.

5. COOKIES & LOCAL STORAGE

We keep cookies to an absolute minimum:

  • Essential — we use your browser's local storage (not a cookie) to remember one thing only: your cookie-banner choice, so we don't ask you again
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4, set only if you click "Accept All" on our cookie banner (see section 3)
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to serve non-personalised, family-safe ads (frequency capping, ad reporting and fraud prevention — see section 4)

Game scores and answers are never stored in cookies or sent anywhere — they exist only while the game page is open.

You can change your mind at any time: delete this site's cookies and site data in your browser settings and the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit. Our games work perfectly with all non-essential cookies rejected.

6. LEGAL BASES & INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Under UK GDPR, our legal bases for the limited processing described above are: consent for analytics cookies (given by an adult via the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time), and legitimate interests in funding a free educational website through non-personalised advertising and in keeping the site secure. We never rely on a child's consent for anything.

Google may process the limited technical data described in sections 3–4 on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. These transfers are covered by UK-approved safeguards, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We hold no personal data on our own servers, so there is nothing further for us to retain, transfer or delete.

7. PARENTS & GUARDIANS — YOUR RIGHTS

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, parents and guardians (and any visitor) have the right to:

  • Request access to any personal data held about them or their child
  • Request correction (rectification) of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of data — the "right to be forgotten"
  • Restrict or object to the processing of data
  • Request a copy of data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time (see section 5)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

Contact us at privacy@brightkidsgames.co.uk — we will respond within one month, as UK GDPR requires.

You may also contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or call 0303 123 1113.

8. THIRD-PARTY LINKS

Our website does not contain links to third-party websites from within games. Any external links (e.g. in our privacy or terms pages) are to trusted sources such as government websites. We recommend parents supervise children's internet use.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage parents to review this policy periodically. Significant changes will be highlighted clearly.
